Barker Road Middle School is seeking a part-time 0.5 FTE substitute reading/literacy specialist for Jefferson Road Elementary School from September 1, 2026, through November 23, 2026.  This position supports students in grades 6–8 from 7:30-11:09 a.m.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provide diagnostic and remedial instruction for students in the area of literacy.  

Provide professional learning opportunities for staff in the area of literacy.   

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

  1. Provide remediation for students in the area of literacy. 

  1. Work and plan with paraprofessionals to provide support to students when needed. 

  1. Serve as a resource for staff and administrators through consultation and provision of professional learning opportunities.  

  1. Participate on the building Instructional Support Team and Pupil Service Team when appropriate. 

  1. When appropriate, develop, manage and review 504 Plans, Instructional Support Plans and Academic Intervention Service Plans for students. 

  1. Conduct diagnostic testing, analyze the results and make appropriate recommendations. 

  1. Complete academic evaluations for the CSE process. 

  1. Confer / consult with parents throughout the school year. 

  1. Prepare semi-annual student progress reports.  

  1. Maintain knowledge of best practices in literacy. 

  1. Attend building and district meetings as appropriate. 

  1. Participate in district standards development and implementation as appropriate. 

  1. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the building principal. 

$200/day then prorated for FTE
