The Pittsford Central School District is seeking an experienced individual to serve as our next Assistant Superintendent for Business.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To administer the business services of the School District in a manner which will assist in the realization of the educational goals and objectives. To provide optimum services with the financial resources available.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Supervises the management of the financial affairs of the District.
2. Supervises the preparation of the budget and assumes responsibility for administration of the budget.
3. Facilitates the Budget Review Committee.
4. Supervises all accounting operations including receivables, payables, payroll, general ledger, and internal control procedures.
5. Interprets the financial position of the District to the administration by preparing reports which are required by law and also for internal operational purposes.
6. Supervises data processing procedures to provide management information, evaluation techniques and long-range forecasts.
7. Assumes responsibility for the annual School District audit.
8. Supervises the clerical personnel in the Business Office.
9. Administers, through the Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds, the operation of the School District facilities.
10. Administers, through the Director of Transportation, the operation of the District's transportation program.
11. Administers, through the Director of School Food Service, the school food service program.
12. Supervises the Director of Finance and provides standards for the administration of the business office.
13. Serves as the District's representative on the boards of the Rochester Area School Health Plan the Rochester Area School Workers Compensation Plan.
14. Manages the District's insurance program (excluding health and dental). Reviews the program, analyzing needs, coverage and risks. Develops and secures bid proposals, as required.
15. Maintains fixed asset inventory control system including valuation, additions and deletions, and property transfers.
16. Assists the Superintendent in presentation of financial and support service data to the community.
17. Works to maintain effective District-community relations.
18. Works with architect(s) and/or construction manager in developing specifications and requirements for any facility projects.
19. Participates as required in the collective bargaining process.
20. Consults with Superintendent and other personnel on questions relating to the District's business affairs.
21. Keeps the Superintendent informed regarding the plans, programs and activities in the area of business services.
22. Serves on the District Central Office Team.
23. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in education and uses this knowledge constructively in the operation of business services.
24. Advises the Superintendent on business and support service matters.
25. Assumes responsibility for the District's risk management program, including the Hazard Communication Standard and other federal or state laws impacting on the health or safety of District staff.
26. Performs such other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
