Job Description

Thank you for your interest in Pittsford Schools.  We are seeking an outstanding leader for the position of Director of Student Services.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the coordination, delivery, evaluation and refinement of  Student Services programs which includes addressing the needs of students through a comprehensive MTSS model with an emphasis on RtI, mental health services, health services, instructional challenge services and the English Language Learner program. To effectively use information and data to support the decision making processes of the District and to manage all census, attendance and registration processes and records. To support the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction by assuming leadership for curricular and instructional areas as assigned.

Duties:

Develop a strategic plan for the Student Services Department that is aligned with the District’s strategic initiative, plans and priorities.

Ensure the seamless delivery of support services for students through cooperative, collaborative, and timely efforts with district and school personnel, students, parents and external organizations/agencies.

           Direct Student Services

Research, develop and implement a systemic process (MTSS) for K-12 plans and programs for mental health services and supports. Work with internal and external providers to ensure appropriate levels of service.

Support the equity, diversity and inclusivity priorities of the district.

Coordinate K-12 activities related to Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and Trauma, Incident and Grief (TIG).

Serve as School District Liaison for the Pittsford Youth Services board.

Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of Response to Intervention (RtI)  and Academic Instructional Services (AIS) efforts.

Coordinate School Nurse, School Nurse Teacher, School Counseling,  School Psychology, Instructional Challenge and English Language Learner (ELL) services.

Serve as School District Liaison for the Urban/Suburban Transfer Program.

Coordinate  home schooling processes with BOCES I.

Oversee participation of district students in non-special education BOCES programs.

Manage self-supporting student programs including Drivers’ Education and Summer Enrichment.

Coordinate home or hospital instruction and tutoring services for students.

Policy services

Recommend and enact development of and/or revisions to policies, regulations and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations as they relate to specific program areas and/or services for students.

Coordinate the annual code of conduct process and Superintendent’s hearings.

Staff Supervision and Development

Supervise and evaluate the activities of the School Physician, Prevention Coordinator and Career Internship Coordinator.

Supervise and evaluate Student Services staff including, Coordinator of Social Emotional Learning, Central Registrar, and Department Assistant.

Plan and coordinate appropriate staff development activities related to Student Services.

Assessment Services

In collaboration with the Data Team oversee new student screening processes and kindergarten screening.

Collaborate with the Data Team regarding the District and State testing programs, including scheduling and scoring.

Census, Registration and Records

            Administer and conduct the annual student census process.

Administer student records processes (e.g., transcripts, cum folders, health records);

Administer central registration and residency verification processes and inter-district transfer requests.

Grants and funding

Prepare and administer Title Grants and other grants as appropriate.

Oversee efforts to secure additional grant funding for District priorities.

Other

Serve on District’s Central Office Team, Chair the District Health & Safety and Health & Wellness Committees, and other committees as assigned.

            Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.

Job Qualifications

CERTIFICATION:

Must hold New York State Certification as School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL)

QUALIFICATIONS:                                

At least 10 years of successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision and administration.  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.  Hold a valid license to drive in NYS.
