Job Description

The Pittsford Central School District is seeking Building Substitute Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year for Secondary and Elemtnary levels. As a substitute teacher, your job duties may include, but not be limited to; following the plans created by the classroom teacher, working collaboratively with other adults that may be present in the room, monitoring student behavior and fostering a safe, positive, affirming, and welcoming learning environment. 

Secondary Schedule is as follows:

Mendon High School	9-12	7:40am - 2:21pm
Sutherland High School	9-12	7:40am - 2:21pm
Barker Road Middle School	6-8	7:35am - 2:24pm
Calkins Road Middle School	6-8	7:35am - 2:24pm

Elementary Schedule is as follows:

Allen Creek Elementary	K-5	8:30am-3:05pm
Jefferson Road Elementary	K-5	8:30am-3:05pm
Mendon Center Elementary	K-5	8:30am-3:05pm
Park Road Elementary	K-5	8:30am-3:05pm
Thornell Road Elementary	K-5	8:30am-3:05pm

Your work schedule may vary depending on the assignment, but the school day consists of the times outlined above. As a substitute, you will work in one of the above designated buildings based on your qualifications and potential preference. Job Qualifications

The successful candidate(s) should be able to meet the following requirements:  

1. A substitute teacher with a valid teacher certification can work in any capacity, for any number of days. If employed for more than 40 days in a school year, they must be employed in an area for which they are certified.
2. A substitute teacher without a valid teacher certification who is working towards certification, can work in any capacity, for any number of days. If employed for more than 40 days in a school year, they must be employed in the area for which they are seeking certification.
3. A substitute teacher who does not hold a valid teacher certification and is not working towards certification can work for no more than 40 days in a school year. 

The job qualifications outlined above may be exceeded if the superintendent of schools certifies that the district has conducted a good-faith recruitment search for an appropriately certified candidate and/or who could fulfill the specific assignment and no such candidate was found. Candidates will need to possess the ability to multitask, be flexible, work collaboratively with others, and promote the Pittsford Central School Districts Strategic Initiative.  The District will assist substitutes with receiving fingerprint clearance from NYSE.
